Pestana D. Joao II Beach & Golf Resort Alvor, Alvor

I recently had a stay at the Pestana Dom João II, which had some great aspects, particularly the friendly staff and stunning views. However, my experience was mixed due to the consistently lukewarm breakfast and the dated facilities. Considering the price, I felt that there were aspects needing improvement, especially the dining options.

I recently returned to D João and was thrilled with the improvements made since my last visit. The beach bar is revamped, and the pool area is now much more comfortable with new sun shades. There’s a fresh vibe around, especially with younger staff eager to assist. The Portuguese buffet was a highlight, making for an enjoyable stay overall. However, some areas could still use further enhancements, particularly the aging facilities that might not feel like a 4-star experience.

I had a lovely time at the hotel, particularly enjoyed the stunning sea views from my balcony, which made for beautiful sunsets. The facilities were well-maintained, and the breakfast offered a great variety to choose from. However, I did encounter some minor issues with room service, which could have been better coordinated. Overall, it was a great value for the amenities provided.

Although the dining options within the hotel were decent, we found better dining experiences just a short walk away. The hotel facilities were well-kept, although we encountered some maintenance work that could impact sunbed access on the beach. Overall, a fantastic spot for a relaxing holiday!
